I found the jewels and jester game.
It's called... Legend of Kyrandia!
That's a screen shot of it up there. I'm so proud of my google abilities. It took me about twenty minutes, but I finally found it. The winning word combination was: berries burning light path walkthrough jewel jester. I know, I know. Impressive.

Wow caitlin, just wow. It didn't ring any bells till I looked at a youtube video and saw the wall/tree/creepy door fave thing talking.
I know no one will believe me, but I think that I played this game as a kid
